Shop Technician- Hoekstra Truck Equipment

 

Hoekstra Truck Equipment has an opening for a full time Service Technician/Equipment Installer. The Service Technician will be responsible for effective diagnosis, repair, installation, and fabrication work on vehicles. The ideal candidate will be team oriented, possess a willingness to learn, exude positivity and dedication to maintain Hoekstra Truck Equipment’s core value of quality and service.

Responsibilities of this role:

  • Installation of service bodies, flatbeds, dump bodies, snowplows, ice control equipment, hitches, liftgates, and other specialized truck equipment
  • Perform work in accordance with safety standards and regulations
  • Maintain a clean and organized workstation
  • Work with parts department to ensure all parts and materials required to perform assigned jobs are correct
  • Efficiently troubleshoot and perform diagnostic inspections and repairs

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

  • Relevant automotive experience, participated in moderate maintenance, repair, and diagnostics
  • Value customer relations and efficient attention to customer needs
  • Team oriented and willing to take on additional responsibilities and learn new skills
  • Welding experience is a plus
  • Automotive electrical system experience is a plus

Base pay is dependent upon experience.

Hoekstra Truck Equipment is seeking a full-time Service and Parts Coordinator. The Service & Parts associate is responsible for assisting the shop technicians and customers in finding the appropriate parts to repair their vehicles while providing exceptional customer service through knowledgeable, friendly, professional interactions. This employee will also be responsible for invoicing service orders, parts on work orders and customer orders.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Create an environment in which all customers feel welcomed and appreciated.
  • Develop knowledge and skills pertaining to the industry in order to better serve our customers.
  • Serve as link between parts, service and sales departments within organization
  • Operate within the parts department with accuracy and efficiency so as to represent your employer and vendors in a professional and respectful manner.
  • Greet all customers in a professional manner.
  • Schedule technicians
  • Gather parts needed for technicians to allow the most efficient repairs possible.
  • Monitor Service progress, calculate charges, and process payments.
  • Record customer details and transactions.
  • Log the process of a repair for billing.
  • Process warranty claims.
  • Follow up with customers and the service department.
  • Provide customers with accurate parts as required and parts breakdowns when requested.
  • Provide estimates when requested by the service department.
  • Suggest add-on items to be purchased.
  • Actively listen to customers and ask questions to fully understand and meet their needs.
  • Contact/follow up with vendors to completion when backorders or discrepancies occur.
  • Assist in keeping the parts department clean and orderly.
  • Assist with inventory and inventory management.
  • Assist with incoming and outgoing parts product.
  • Maintain inventory levels on shop supplies.
  • Develop relationships with customers through successful management of the product or service delivery.

Continuous Improvement/Growth

  • DMS training.
  • OEM system training.
  • Consistently work to grow and learn more about the dealership business.
  • Suggest and implement ideas to create personal and departmental efficiencies.
  • Anticipate problems and work to eliminate them before they happen.
